Welcome to Gear and Patriots

Welcome to Gear and Patriots. Something made you stop and think about whether you and the people close to you are actually ready. Maybe it was a storm that knocked the power out longer than anyone expected. Maybe it was a news cycle that would not quit. Maybe it was just a quiet thought at two in the morning. Whatever brought you here, you are in the right place.

Here is what we do, in plain terms. We test gear, dig into the skills that matter, and keep track of what is actually happening so you do not have to sort through the noise yourself. No fear selling. No hundred item checklists that leave you broke and overwhelmed. Just current, honest information you can act on this week.

Preparedness Is About People, Not Products

It is easy to get lost in equipment. The right pack, the right light, the right blade. Gear matters, and we cover it seriously. But gear is the smaller half of this.

The real question is simpler. If something went wrong tomorrow, could you take care of the people who depend on you? Your spouse. Your kids. Your parents across town who still will not carry a cell phone. That is the measure that counts, and it is what we build everything around.

Most emergencies are not dramatic. They are a job loss, a burst pipe, a week without power, a family member who needs help fast. Being ready for the ordinary version of trouble puts you well ahead of everyone else when something bigger arrives.

What You Will Find Here

  • Gear we have actually used. We do not review from a spec sheet. If we recommend something, it earned it, and we will tell you where it falls short too.
  • Skills that outlast equipment. Water, food, power, first aid, and home security. Knowledge does not break and never needs batteries.
  • Current information. Supply chains shift, prices move, and advice ages badly. We keep our guidance updated instead of leaving stale recommendations sitting around.
  • Straight talk on real threats. Some risks are overblown and some are ignored. We separate the two and say which is which.
  • Plans you can build one step at a time. Start with a weekend. Build from there. Preparedness done gradually is the kind that sticks.

Start With These Five

These are our five most recent articles. Any one of them is a fine place to begin.

One Thing This Week

If you do nothing else after reading this, do this. Fill a few containers with water and put them somewhere you will remember. One gallon per person per day, three days at minimum. It costs almost nothing, it takes about fifteen minutes, and water is the first thing people run short of in every kind of emergency.

That is it. You are not behind. You just started.

We will keep sending you the things worth knowing, and we will keep it honest. Glad to have you with us.
